Video: Caltech's Resnick Sustainability Center fuels new sustainable solutions

The building is an iconic addition to the beautiful campus. Designed by our Yazdani Studio, the building is nuanced, powerful, intentional, well-crafted and visually striking all at once. Those were my takeaways after spending two days at the Resnick Sustainability Center earlier this year securing video and photography.

The building is deeply equipped to deliver on its sustainability mission. Walking through the center, you find some of the most advanced laboratory research spaces. There are hubs to study weather patterns, climate, soil, rockets, you name it. And, surrounding those areas are intriguing spaces for respite, reflections, glances toward the surrounding mountains and collaboration.

After visiting the Resnick Sustainability Center, it's no surprise the building has been celebrated by design and science communities alike. To date, the mass timber makerspace for climate science has been profiled by the Los Angeles Times, Architect's Newspaper and Dezeen, honored by Fast Company and presented as unique conferences like the United Nations Science Summit.

All that, and it's fair to see the center's story is still barely beginning. The LEED-Platinum building unites experts from across scientific disciplines to advance critical research into the most pressing climate and sustainability challenges we face.

The hope is that the Resnick Sustainability Center will be an epicenter for the ideas and solutions that help society adapt, endure and flourish amidst climate change.

It's an incredible mission - one that leaves you eager to return to the building years later, to see how far they've come on that journey.
