The replacement terminal for Hollywood Burbank Airport, designed by Corgan and CannonDesign, is drawing coverage from prominent media outlets ahead of its October 2026 opening.

Recently, the 355,000-square-foot, 14-gate terminal was featured in the LA Times, Travel + Leisure, The Points Guy and Airways, among others.

Los Angeles Times

The LA Times offers a comprehensive look at the new $1.3-billion terminal, noting it will be about 50% larger than the airport's current two-terminal layout, giving passengers and staff more room and better technology while meeting modern safety and accessibility standards.

Travel + Leisure

Travel + Leisure positions the new terminal as a smart modernization of a beloved and low-stress airport. Writer Chris Dong notes, "Hollywood Burbank Airport is about as hassle-free as it gets for a major city. While its 1930s-era building is functional and compact, it became clear more than a decade ago that the airport needed an overhaul. A new version is debuting soon, and thankfully, they aren't messing with a good thing."

The Points Guy

The Points Guy highlights the new terminal’s design story, emphasizing its old Hollywood glamour, “silver screen” references, searchlight-inspired columns, aviation-history artwork and meaningful connections to Burbank’s Lockheed and Skunk Works legacy.

Airways

Airways magazine sat down with John Hatanaka, Executive Director at Hollywood Burbank Airport, for an in-depth Q&A about the project. John highlights the overall design of the terminal, including the sustainability strategies employed to position it to achieve LEED Gold certification. Of specific note, the terminal is all-electric, a significant achievement for a building of this scale.

The terminal is scheduled to open in October 2026, just three years after the design process began. The accelerated timeline reflects the intense collaboration and efficiencies made possible by the progressive design-build delivery method.
